Yassamine Mather discusses the restaging of the Tehran conference photo on BBC Persian

Posted: 6 October 2021

The Russian and British ambassadors to Iran have provoked controversy by restaging a famous photo from the 1943 Tehran conference. Josef Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin D Roosevelt were discussing joint action against Nazi Germany- in a country then occupied by Russian and British troops.

Critique editor Yassamine Mather was invited onto the BBC's Persian language service to discuss what these photos tell us about the history of colonialism and collective memory.
